Foxboro, Mass. — Corners Hockey erased a second-period deficit and later took the lead, but Jr. Panthers responded in the closing minutes as the teams finished even at 2-2 on Saturday afternoon.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Neither side was able to break through during a scoreless first period, though play remained competitive throughout the opening frame.
Jr. Panthers opened the scoring early in the second period when Laurence Foster found the back of the net at 1:55, with Alicia Cote picking up the assist.
Corners Hockey answered later in the period. At 11:34, Kate Tarr scored to even the game at 1-1 and send the teams into the second intermission deadlocked.
Corners carried that momentum into the third period. At 8:23, Faith Steiner scored off an assist from Jesse Talty, giving Corners Hockey its first lead of the afternoon.
Jr. Panthers refused to go away, however. With just 1:17 remaining in regulation, Meanne Thibault netted the equalizer at 13:43, assisted by Maely Parent, tying the game at 2-2.
Neither team was able to find a winner before time expired, and the contest ended with both sides earning a point.
