Foxboro, Mass. — Corners Hockey used a balanced offensive attack and a pair of multi-goal performances to earn a 7-3 victory over WC Swans Gold 19U on Friday afternoon. After carrying a one-goal lead into the first intermission, Corners Hockey scored three times in both the second and third periods to pull away for the win.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Corners Hockey opened the scoring late in the first period when Kate Tarr found the back of the net at the 12:31 mark. Anna Davidson and Jesse Talty were credited with assists on the play, giving Corners Hockey a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
WC Swans Gold 19U responded quickly in the second period. Just nine seconds after the puck dropped, Annie Flippo scored the equalizer off an assist from Olivia Bissell, tying the game at 1-1.
Corners Hockey answered midway through the period as Alex Mitsakis scored at the 8:44 mark to restore the lead. Mitsakis struck again just 31 seconds later, with Brenna O’Reilly earning the assist, extending the advantage to 3-1.
WC Swans Gold 19U continued to battle and cut into the deficit at 10:30 when Flippo scored her second goal of the game, this time with Brooklyn Gagne picking up the assist.
Corners Hockey responded once again as Kate Glantz scored at the 12:07 mark, restoring a two-goal cushion and sending her team into the third period with a 4-2 advantage.
WC Swans Gold 19U narrowed the gap early in the final frame when Olivia Bissell scored just 12 seconds into the period off an assist from Emma Harrison, making it a 4-3 game.
Corners Hockey regained control from there, closing the game with three unanswered goals. Glantz recorded her second goal of the contest at 2:26, Izzy King added a goal at 4:49, and Faith Steiner capped the scoring at 5:22 to seal the 7-3 victory.
