FOXBORO – It was a near perfect run through the preliminary round of the 2024 Women’s Chowder Cup for the 2010 WC Swans. They closed out their U14 slate 3-0-1 after defeating the Cape Cod Kraken 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.
The Swans wasted little time in their quest for victory, jumping out to a 3-0 lead on a trio of first period goals. Riley Bergeron twice and Mia Deluca once combined for the advantage at the break.
Cape Cod was on the board in the second with a Sabrina Bassett goal, but Bergeron had a hat trick to finish and Giana Samalis had a second half goal to contribute as well in the Swans’ winning effort.
Netminder Margaux Devillers backstopped all three Swans wins of the tournament, giving up just four goals in four preliminary round games played.
