Foxboro, Mass. — North American Elite 19U struck twice in a span of less than a minute and withstood a late push from WC Swans OGs to earn a 2-1 victory on Sunday.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
The game got off to a lively start as North American Elite 19U wasted little time generating offense. Sienna Glass opened the scoring at 5:06 of the first period off an assist from Merritt Tessier, giving North American Elite 19U an early lead.
Just 43 seconds later, North American Elite 19U struck again. Kimee Duplessis doubled the advantage at 5:49 with help from Brooke Carlson, putting WC Swans OGs in an early hole.
WC Swans OGs refused to back down and gradually worked their way back into the contest. Late in the opening frame, Teagan Beigel found the back of the net at 17:04 off an assist from Courtney Shifrin, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and shifting momentum heading into the remainder of the game.
With only one goal separating the teams, the pace remained high throughout the rest of the contest. Both sides battled for possession and searched for the next breakthrough, but neither was able to capitalize on its opportunities.
WC Swans OGs continued to push for an equalizer, while North American Elite 19U answered with a composed defensive effort to protect its slim lead. The two early goals ultimately proved to be enough as North American Elite 19U skated away with the 2-1 victory.
