Foxboro, Mass. — After falling behind early in the second period, WC Swans Black 19U responded with three consecutive goals and never looked back, earning a 3-1 victory over Cape Cod Selects on Saturday afternoon.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
Neither team was able to break through during a tightly played opening period, and the game remained scoreless heading into the second.
Cape Cod Selects struck first at the 4:51 mark of the second period when Leah Eichorn opened the scoring to give her team a 1-0 advantage.
The lead was short-lived, however, as WC Swans Black 19U answered just 37 seconds later. Jordan Nash found the back of the net at 5:28 with an assist from Isabelle Levine, evening the score at 1-1.
Momentum continued to swing toward the Swans moments later. At 6:28, Rose Calabro capitalized on a power-play opportunity, scoring the go-ahead goal to put WC Swans Black 19U in front for good.
WC Swans Black added an insurance marker early in the third period when Lucey Jean scored at the 22-second mark, extending the lead to 3-1.
Cape Cod Selects continued to push for a response, but WC Swans Black held firm over the remainder of the contest to secure the win.
