FOXBORO – The second day of pool play at New England Pro-Am Hockey’s 2022 Women’s Chowder Cup got underway Saturday morning. The Lady Whalers kicked off the slate of games scheduled for the day at the Foxboro Sports Center with a win, defeating HomeGrown Hockey 4-1.
A power play goal from Margaret Averill and a tally from Mary Murray got things going in the first. The two scores gave the Lady Whalers a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
HomeGrown broke into the scoring column in the second with a goal from Sasha Weiner, but the Whalers offense had two more goals left in it for the contest. Sloane Hartmetz and Emma Cerruti with the scores that brough things to its 4-1 final.
Goaltender Hannah Mortazavi locked down the win in the Lady Whalers net.
