FOXBORO – The Arctic Penguins made a statement on the first day of play at the 2025 Women’s Chowder Cup. They posted a sizeable, 8-0 victory over the Lumberjills Friday at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Despite the number of goals scored in the contest, none of them came in the first period. Penguins goaltender Avery Olson and Lumberjills counterpart Megan Dolan keeping the opposition off the scoresheet.
The 0-0 draw held until late in the second, the Penguins’ Finlay Crosby breaking the scoring draught with a goal coming at 9:38 of the middle frame. It was the first of three in the period for the Penguins.
It was a goal total bettered in the third when the Penguins struck five times in the final stanza to close out their 8-0 victory.
The Arctic attack was a balanced one, 12 of the team’s 15 skaters credited with a point. Of those 12, five had multiple entries on the scoresheet, Brooke Harb chief among them with a four-point contest (2G, 2A). Lilly Winckler (2G), Julia Lambert (1G, 1A), Gaby Smith (2A) and Kasey Litwin (2A) the others credited with multiple points.
