Ice Dragons strike late for win.

FOXBORO – As the second day of play at the 2023 Women’s Chowder Cup got going, so did the Ice Dragons. They posted their first win of the tournament Saturday morning, defeating WC Swans ’09 4-3 at the Foxboro Sports Center.

The Ice Dragons pounced early, amassing themselves a 3-0 lead through the game’s first period. Emma Lewis scored twice – once on the power play – while Caley Maxwell contributed the third and netminder Coralie Parisien kept the Swans off the board.

Despite their disadvantage on the scoreboard, the Swans rallied when the team returned to the ice for the second and brought things back to even with three straight goals of their own. Annie Flippo, Kara Gambale and Jillian Sjostedt credited with the Swans goals that tied the game at 3-3.

Lewis had a hat trick to finish off, however, giving her team back their lead with 5:44 left in the second, while Parisien closed the door the rest of the way to preserve the 4-3 victory.
