Second period offense puts 46er’s over Kraken, 3-2.

FOXBORO – The Adirondack 46er’s saved their preliminary round best for last when they defeated the Cape Cod Kraken 3-2 on Saturday to close out their opening U16 division slate at the 2023 Women’s Chowder Cup.

It was a back-and-forth scoring battle throughout, the Kraken taking the lead, but never being able to pull away as the 46er’s answered back.

Gabby Bassett was first on the scoresheet with a goal late in the first to give Cape Cod the 1-0 lead at the break. Cammi Behonick bought the 46er’s back to even early in the second.

Sophie Boucher had the lead back in the hands of the Kraken with a goal with 7:43 remaining, but it was a lead that lasted just over two minutes. Anna Monette scored to bring the 46er’s back to even late in the second.

Monette then gave the 46er’s their first lead of the game and first win of the tournament scoring with just 15-seconds remaining for the 3-2 win.
